I have several requests for the past couple of years for a Western Bowie based on the W49 model. They are coal forged using 5160 steel. Full Tang handle has a brass guard. Leather sheath has a dangler and tie down at the tip for those that want these features. The Rosewood handle has a comfortable grip and the classic bowie look.
The Western W49 Bowie became well known for it’s robust design (see video below) and historical significance. This knife was the choice of many Special Forces soldiers during the Vietnam War era. There are several variations. I went with one of the more well known versions. This knife was primarily designed and forged to be used.
Knife weight varies slightly (+/- a couple of grams) as these are hand forged.
