Made in Nepal, the Chandra Khukuri is a remake of the original (Based on the one I own). It has been modified slightly. Modifications include a distal tapered Full Tang Handle that has been lengthened for todays hands . It comes with the side knife (Karda) and the honing steel (Chak Mak). The scabbard also has a pocket for tinder to start fire. Includes an additional location for your ferro rod. This blade born for war time is a great survivalist tool. Designed to be carried in your back pack. (no belt loop)
Chandra Shumsher served as the Prime Minister from 27 June 1901 to his death in 1929. He is credited with several reforms including the abolition of slavery. His soldiers carried this khukuri with his name engraved on the spine. He provided military assistance to Britain in the WWI. One of the results was Nepal being recognized as an independent nation and an ally of the British Empire. His Gurkhas Gurkhas fought on the Western Front, Gallipoli, Egypt, Palestine, Mesopotamia and on the North West Frontier.
The Khukri weight varies slightly (+/- a couple of grams) as these are hand forged. See You Tube Video below
