Description

In Honor of Kulbir Thapa, The First Gurkha to win the Victorian Cross for bravery in battle.  His Victoria Cross is displayed at the Gurkha Museum in Winchester, Hampshire, England.  Thapa is a proper surname for a Caste in Nepal that was an important part of unifying Nepal. Many people of the Thapa Caste (clan) fought in wars and many are recognized as great warriors of their time.

This  52100 Carbon Steel knife has been recreated, but in Full Tang.

In Collaboration with Neem, brought to you from Nepal, This is a combat utility khukuri knife. It comes with some detail work that is noticed by collectors. The Cho or Notch in the blade is custom Lotus Flower that represents purity of body, speech and mind. The Kothi or brass Tip on the scabbard is the Continuous Knot that Represents the connection between Wisdom and Compassion . The Peening on the pommel is not typical, but is also the lotus flower.  The brass used on this khukuri is twice as thick as normally used.  Scabbard is double loop to allow for adjustment whether wearing on belt or attaching to back pack. This blade produces very powerful cuts.

It come with the traditional side blades of the Nepalese soldiers known as Gurkhas. The Karda is a small useful utility blade. The Chak Mak is used for honing the blade in the field.

This is one of my favorite blades and I would gladly take this to war.  The knife weight varies slightly (+/- a couple of grams) as these are hand forged. This is a good knife for General Purpose camp use and can be used for self defense.   Price includes shipping inside the USA .

Watch the video to get an idea why this is one of my favorites.

This is a beautiful knife and very well made one of many of Frank’s knives I have all are great

  2. Charles Burrell (verified owner)

I have four of Frank’s knives, and the Thapa is by far, the best I have used for cutting. You will not go wrong with this knife. The Bowie is my favorite when on the move.–also good knife..

  3. Luis Garza (verified owner)

The Thapa is one of the nicest khukuri knives I’ve ever held/used. Great chopping power in an elegant design.

  4. James Johnson (verified owner)

Just received my new Thapa kukuri..beautiful knife…elegant beauty that feels great in the hand…nice balance without the heavy weight of other kukuri styles…chops great but still nimble in the hand.

  5. Adam Cleveland (verified owner)

Super awesome knife. Very well balanced and razor sharp. All the little extra details are beautiful and the toughness of the blade is unmatched.

  6. Adam Cleveland (verified owner)

Oh my God I had to say it’s so beautiful and feels so good in my hand. I’m a first time buyer and this knife is so much better than the others I have bought I’ve used it quite a bit on all sorts of stuff the edge still remains the grip is so comfortable and just his design and the curve of the blade really is so proficient at chopping and slicing deeply. I highly recommend this thapa khukuri. Frank is a master of his craft and I liked it so much I immediately bought another one.

  7. Malcolm Werner (verified owner)

Amazing quality. Well balanced. Most amazing is that it came scary sharp. Shaving sharp before stropping! The fit and finish of the blade, guard, handle, and pommel are perfect. The sheath is as well made as the knife. This kukuri is both a collectible weapon and a superb utility knife. I will be back to buy others. Frank is great to deal with and answered all of my questions quickly.
